The Gospel of Mark: Authority to Forgive - Jeremy Little

What was different about Jesus that drew crowds of people to Him? This week, Jeremy Little continued our sermon series in Mark by looking at the story where Jesus heals a paralyzed man who was carried to Him by friends. This story is an incredible example of the kind of friends we need in our lives—people who will carry us to Jesus! These five friends were full of faith and pushed past every obstacle to get to Jesus. Jesus saw their faith and did something completely unexpected: He declared, “Son, your sins are forgiven.” Beyond physical healing, Jesus addressed the core issue in our lives—our need for forgiveness from sins. To prove that He had the authority to forgive sins, Jesus told the man, “Rise, pick up your bed, and go home,” and the man was instantly healed! What was different about Jesus? He had authority that no one else has ever possessed: the authority to forgive sins, to heal, and to cast out demons.
