Our Bible Reading Plan is going on now!

THURSDAY

HIS TRUTH GUIDES ME

Thank you for joining us as we seek God morning, noon, and night this week! To meaningfully connect with God in these times, we encourage you to go someplace quiet and away from distractions. Then spend time worshipping, reading Scripture, and reflecting on how it applies to your life. Journaling what God speaks to your heart will help make this time even more meaningful. We also encourage you to try a "practice fast" for one meal on one of these days leading up to the fast.

Scripture Reading
Psalm 119:105-112
Your word is a lamp to guide my feet
and a light for my path.
I’ve promised it once, and I’ll promise it again:
I will obey your righteous regulations.
I have suffered much, O Lord;
restore my life again as you promised.
Lord, accept my offering of praise,
and teach me your regulations.
My life constantly hangs in the balance,
but I will not stop obeying your instructions.
The wicked have set their traps for me,
but I will not turn from your commandments.
Your laws are my treasure; they are my heart’s delight.
I am determined to keep your decrees
to the very end.

Reflection / Application
Express thankfulness to God for His word, the Bible, and how it guides and directs you to the path of life. Declare to God your commitment to follow His word alone in your life, and not to listen to all the other voices that compete for your attention.

Scripture Reading
Psalm 1:1-3
Oh, the joys of those who do not
follow the advice of the wicked,
or stand around with sinners,
or join in with mockers.
But they delight in the law of the Lord,
meditating on it day and night.
They are like trees planted along the riverbank,
bearing fruit each season.
Their leaves never wither,
and they prosper in all they do.

Hebrew 4:12
For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.

Reflection / Application
God's word is alive and powerful - it frees us from bondage to lies we believe deep in our hearts. Take a minute to list lies you are believing and struggling with. Then, for each lie, write the gospel truth that breaks the power of that lie.

Scripture Reading
John 1:1,14
In the beginning the Word already existed.
The Word was with God, and the Word was God.

So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.

John 14:6
Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me."

Hebrews 1:1-2
Long ago God spoke many times and in many ways to our ancestors through the prophets. And now in these final days, he has spoken to us through his Son. God promised everything to the Son as an inheritance, and through the Son he created the universe.

Reflection / Application
Jesus is the word. Jesus is the Truth. Jesus is God's full revelation to us. Spend a few minutes surrendering your heart to Jesus. Surrender your truth for Jesus's Truth. Surrender your way for Jesus's way.
